From a first trade to 22K followers: Pako Bootsapo’s education-first approach to partnership

Pako Bootsapo opened his first Deriv account out of curiosity. A friend was trading, and he wanted to try it himself. After following his friend’s signals, placing trades, and making his first withdrawal, his curiosity became something more serious.

That unexpected introduction eventually led to Ingenuity Traders, a trading education community with more than 22,000 Facebook followers at the time of his Partner Spotlight interview.

Today, Pako combines his digital marketing background with free education, live trading sessions, and direct community support. His approach centres on a clear principle: be honest about trading and keep helping people after they sign up.

Quick summary: What can partners learn from Pako’s approach?

  • Lead with education: Help beginners understand market structure and trading decisions before focusing on potential returns.
  • Show the full experience: Pako shares losses as well as profits and uses live sessions to interact with his audience.
  • Reach people with relevant content: Educational videos and targeted Google ads help him connect with people looking for trading information.
  • Build a central learning platform: His website brings together educational content, session information, and contact details.
  • Support people beyond registration: For Pako, introducing someone to a platform is the beginning of an ongoing relationship.

From learning independently to making education accessible

When Pako began exploring trading, he encountered mentors charging for their knowledge. He chose to learn independently, then decided to create a platform where others could access education for free.

That became Ingenuity Traders.

“Ingenuity Traders offers free signals, free live trading, free mentorship to everybody across Africa.”

His motivation also came from seeing people who had opened trading accounts but stopped using them. Some lacked guidance; others had become discouraged and given up.

Pako wanted to help those people reconnect with the learning process. Becoming a Deriv partner gave him a way to develop a business around that support.

For him, the opportunity involved more than introducing new people to trading. It also meant being available to those who had already started and needed help understanding their next steps.

Building trust through an honest trading experience

Pako believes credibility begins with explaining that trading involves both potential profits and losses.

“Be a trader who helps people to trade. Don’t be an influencer who sells people dreams.”

That principle shapes how he presents himself and his work. He describes sharing losing trades alongside profitable ones, allowing his audience to see a fuller picture of his experience.

Live trading sessions make that approach interactive. People can watch, ask questions, and engage with him directly.

“What I’ve been doing is if I’m in losses, I do disclose it. If I’m in profits, I do disclose it.”

He also credits recommendations from community members and support from influencers with helping spread awareness of Ingenuity Traders. In his account, people became more willing to join as they heard from others who had received his assistance.

How Pako uses digital marketing to reach interested learners

With a background in digital marketing, Pako thinks carefully about how people discover his community.

He focuses on content that addresses practical learning needs: live trading, educational videos, and explanations of trading setups. These give people a way to experience his teaching before contacting him. He also uses targeted Google ads connected to his website. For example, someone searching for information about trading Volatility 50 finds his platform.

The next step is personal contact. When someone emails him, he responds. His approach connects discovery with support: a person searches for information, finds relevant content, and has a way to ask for further guidance.

For Deriv Partners, his experience highlights the value of understanding what an audience is trying to learn and creating a clear route from that question to a useful conversation.

Teaching people to make their own decisions

Although signals are part of his offering, Pako describes independence as an important goal of his education.

He wants beginners to understand what they are doing and why. Chasing profits without understanding market structure, he explains, can leave people exposed to losses.

“So, I teach people so that they can know how to catch the fish, not me giving them the fish because tomorrow I won’t be there.”

The metaphor captures the distinction between following an instruction and developing the knowledge to assess a trading decision.

For Pako, mentorship should help learners build that understanding over time. His role is to provide guidance while encouraging them to become less dependent on his presence.

Giving the community a home beyond social media

Facebook has helped Ingenuity Traders attract an audience, while Pako’s website gives people a central place to explore his work.

Visitors can find educational content, learn about him, discover available sessions, and access his contact details. He says the platform has also helped him reach people beyond his own country.

That website supports the community’s activity across channels. Someone who discovers a social post or finds him through Google can explore further and learn how to participate.

Earning credibility as a new partner

Building the community was difficult at first.

Pako recalls struggling to attract his first actively trading client. Potential learners were more comfortable with established traders, and some questioned why a newcomer would offer signals and mentorship for free.

The scepticism made it harder to begin. At one point, he considered giving up.

He continued offering support and sharing his trading activity. Over time, he says, recommendations from people he had helped began bringing more enquiries and requests to join his groups.

His experience illustrates a challenge many new partners face: an audience needs reasons to trust someone they do not yet know. For Pako, those reasons developed through visible work, continued availability, and the experiences of community members.

Pako’s insight: Keep supporting people after they join

Asked what he would tell someone considering the Deriv Partnership Programme, Pako returns to honesty and follow-through.

“Don’t just give people your link, then you don’t check them. You don’t assist them with anything because if you do that, you’re going to lose them.”

He encourages new partners to build their platforms patiently, avoid chasing fast money, and explain the risks of trading clearly. He also stresses that today’s results do not determine tomorrow’s outcomes.

His guidance reflects the model he has built at Ingenuity Traders: attract people through useful content, help them understand the markets, and continue engaging with them as they learn.

What’s next for Ingenuity Traders?

Pako’s next ambition is to take that education to more people in person.

In his interview, he outlined plans to hold seminars across Africa in 2027, extending the community’s activity beyond its existing online presence.

The planned tour follows the same idea that started Ingenuity Traders: make learning accessible and meet people who are looking for guidance.
