Morice Campbell, known online as 4xBrian, became a Deriv partner in June 2020. His community began with around 10 people learning from his approach to the markets. By the time of his Deriv Partner Spotlight interview, it had grown to more than 1000 clients across the Caribbean.
Behind that growth is a teaching style shaped by how Morice wishes he had learned to trade: clear explanations, step-by-step guidance, and someone to help make sense of the process. Through a free Telegram education group, regular Zoom sessions, and paid ads, he has brought that approach to a wider audience while learning to set more realistic expectations along the way.
What is Morice’s approach to growing a trading community?
- Education first: Morice uses his free Telegram group and Zoom sessions to help traders understand the markets, starting with the basics and progressing to more advanced concepts.
- A recognisable teaching style: He builds his content around his own strengths in explaining market movements, attracting people who connect with that approach.
- Paid ads to extend his reach: After growing through recommendations, Morice used Meta ads to introduce his community to a broader audience.
- The process over the profits: An early advertising mistake taught him that showing results without explaining the work behind them can create unrealistic expectations.
- Support as a foundation: Morice values having a Deriv support system he can contact when he or his clients need help.
From volatility trading to a Deriv partnership
Morice’s introduction to Deriv came through synthetic indices, specifically volatility trading. After spending a few months using the platform, he began exploring the Partnership Programme and comparing its benefits with other opportunities.
The information available helped him understand what the partnership offered, and he decided to give it a try.
Over time, the support available to him became one of the most valuable parts of that decision. When he or someone in his community encounters an issue, he has a team to reach out to.
“The fact that I have a support system that can support me and my group really has helped us along the way” says Morice.
For someone whose work centres on guiding others, that support matters. It helps him assist his community while navigating his own journey as a partner.
Teaching traders the way he wanted to learn
Morice’s day-to-day work involves sharing how he interprets the markets and explaining that thinking through Zoom sessions. His goal is to give learners a clearer path through information that can otherwise feel scattered.
“This is how I would have wanted to learn how to trade. Step-by-step with somebody guiding me on what to do, what not to do.”
His free Telegram education group provides a starting point for people who want to learn but do not know where to begin. There, he shares chart setups and market insights while helping members build their understanding progressively.
As a master partner, Morice also trains other partners. His teaching approach aims to help people develop enough understanding to become more independent and, potentially, guide communities of their own.
Addressing the “you versus you” side of trading
Part of Morice’s teaching involves challenging misconceptions about the markets. One he regularly encounters is the belief that the market or broker is working against the trader.
He encourages learners to examine their own understanding, reactions, and decisions.
“It’s really a you versus you game.”
That perspective brings trading psychology into the conversation. For Morice, learning involves understanding what happens in the market and how a trader responds to it. His sessions give him space to explain those ideas alongside his market analysis.
Growing from recommendations to paid ads
Before Morice began using paid ads, his community grew through people recommending his teaching to others. A group of around 10 became 20, then 30, as members brought more people into the conversation.
That early growth showed him that his approach resonated. Paid ads offered a way to introduce it to people beyond his existing circle.
Morice describes Meta ads as an effective channel for expanding his community. But the message he puts in front of that audience begins with his own strengths: how he explains and breaks down the market.
“You have to create your own wave and try to show that to the broader audience.”
His approach is to make his teaching style visible so that people who connect with it can find him. Rather than assuming another creator’s engagement will translate to his own community, he focuses on what he can explain well.
Measuring interest at different stages of learning
Morice assesses his campaigns through different outcomes, including how many people join the group and how many send him a message expressing interest.
Those responses serve different purposes. Someone completely new to trading may need a conversation before joining. A person with more experience may be ready to enter the group and learn alongside others.
That distinction shapes what he looks for in a campaign. Group membership is one sign of interest; a message from someone seeking a starting point is another opportunity to connect.
The advertising mistake that changed his message
One of Morice’s clearest lessons came from an early focus on showing trading profits.
He realised that those images could give people the impression that trading was easy, or that they could begin today and achieve similar results tomorrow.
“One mistake was pretty much just showing people profits. That gives people a misconception that trading is easy.”
He adjusted his approach to show more of the process behind trading. That lesson now informs both his advertising and the conversations he has with learners: results alone do not explain what someone needs to understand or the work involved.
Reaching new audiences while keeping education central
At the time of the interview, Morice had also begun using TikTok and was encouraged by the engagement he was seeing there.
His content followed the same educational direction as his Instagram activity: explaining how he approaches trading and how people can learn.
Across platforms, the central idea remains consistent. Morice uses content and advertising to help people discover his community, then gives them a place to ask questions, build their knowledge, and understand the process more clearly.
