In the fast-paced world of trading, few stories are as compelling as that of Javaughn, our Top Deriv partner, who transitioned from a bold decision to pause his formal studies to becoming a leader in the trading industry.
In this interview, Javaughn shared the blueprint of his journey, the mental hurdles he overcame, and why "giving back" is the secret to his social media organic growth.
By treating the Deriv Partner Programme as a scalable business rather than a hobby, he has bridged the gap between technical execution and community leadership.
Quick summary
- Potential success in the partner space requires a "Giving First" philosophy, providing free, high-value resources to build authority.
- 100% organic growth via social media creates a "Personal Connection" entity that paid ads cannot replicate.
- Utilising background skills in Google Analytics and App Development allows for a data-driven approach to community building.
- Mastering trading psychology is the primary barrier to entry for professional-level consistency.
The impact of community: beyond the charts
For Javaughn, motivation is found in the community. With a rapidly growing following, Javaughn attributes his consistency to the energy he shares with his audience.
Is there a powerful moment from your trading journey that still motivates you today?
Javaughn: It mainly has to do with my community and the energy I put out in my videos. Even when I don't feel the vibe, I remember people "feed off my energy. Also, remembering my ups and good moments keeps me from slipping. I tell myself, "I was once at this level, so I can't allow myself to slip below that level. I’ve got to keep rising."
And it’s all organic? (Regarding his 35k–60k followers)
Javaughn: All organic. I tried running ads, but it never really worked for me. With organic growth, there is a personal connection between you and the people. They want to learn and share, which is a big motivation.
Social media organic growth
Crucially, his growth has been 100% organic. While many influencers rely on paid ads, Javaughn insists that organic growth creates a "personal connection" that ads simply cannot buy.

The success loop
- Technical Foundation (Analytics/App Dev) → Fuels Content Quality.
- Giving First Content (Free PDFs/Courses) → Builds Organic Community.
- Community Energy → Sustains Partner Consistency & Networking.
Javaughn’s success didn't happen by accident. Before diving into the markets, he invested heavily in himself.
You studied to become an entrepreneur. Did you study how to promote yourself on social media?
Javaughn: Exactly. People see me on social media but don't realise I have a strong history with it. I went through the top gurus' courses to understand Facebook advertising, Google Analytics, and how to grow on Instagram. I even learned Android app development and how to build apps using Android Studio." All of that helped me build this community.
While not following the traditional college route, he funnelled his resources into specialised courses covering:
- Facebook and Google Advertising
- Google Analytics and AdSense
- Organic Instagram Growth
- Android App Development
This technical foundation allowed him to treat trading not just as a hobby, but as a scalable business.
How to overcome the "hidden barrier" of trading psychology
While the "break and retest" strategy was easy for Javaughn to master within six months, the mental game was a different story. He describes a grueling period of "rigorous backtesting" that led to physical and mental exhaustion.
When you were starting, what were your biggest fears and mental blocks? How did you push through them?
Javaughn: I started on a "high" because a friend made money, but it was much more difficult than I thought. After months of not being consistent while seeing others getting better results, I wanted to break down and give up. It was very depressing and my blood pressure went up. I eventually realised there is a concept called psychology, which backtesting doesn't teach. The technicals were very easy to master, but the psychological part was the most difficult.
His breakthrough came when he realised that technical analysis is only half the battle. Trading psychology, managing emotions and maintaining risk consistency are what allowed him to persevere through the inevitable "lows" of the market.
Why a "giving first" mentorship drives partner potential success
In an industry often criticised for high-ticket "guru" courses, Javaughn has taken a different path. He has shifted away from paid one-on-one coaching to provide free, high-value resources.
You’re also a mentor, right? Do you teach people how to trade?
Javaughn: Nowadays, I mostly give away free resources. I don't do one-on-one training because my time is so limited. I package information into a course that is completely free. I don't see the point in charging people to teach them.
Has there ever been someone you mentored whose growth reminded you why you’re doing this?
Javaughn: Absolutely. I tell people that no strategy will work exactly the same for everybody because of different mindsets. I encourage others to give away free stuff because people are hungry to learn. I provide value through hundreds of tools like PDFs because followers view it as a transaction: What am I getting in return for my follow?
What’s next for Javaughn?
As a Deriv Partner, Javaughn emphasises the power of networking with other high-level traders to keep his skills sharp.
How has being a Deriv partner made a difference in your work?
Javaughn: It’s one of the greatest things ever. The networking makes my brain open up. Seeing how others operate motivates me to maintain a high level of skill so that I am consistently a highly proficient trader no matter where I am in the world.
His future vision involves doubling down on beginner-focused content, ensuring that those who know nothing about the markets have a clear, step-by-step path to success.
What’s next for you? What’s the bigger vision?
Javaughn: I want to double the content and focus more on beginner content. I want to teach the step-by-step process so people who know nothing can learn and I can provide meaningful, valuable content.
Advice for new traders and Deriv Partners
For those feeling overwhelmed by the "flexing" and luxury lifestyles seen on social media, Javaughn offers a simple piece of advice: Block the noise.
What’s one thing you’d say to someone just starting out who feels overwhelmed?
Javaughn: If you feel like you need to get off social media, then you should just get off social media. Seeing traders “flexing" adds pressure and affects your trading psychology because you want to make the money fast and over-leverage. Block the distractions and focus on the traders who are actually helping you.
